Night Out “C” Coding

Paanchajanya’11 is happy to announce the event “NIGHT OUT “C” CODING”, an event where you can show your coding, testing and debugging skills by developing a working code over night!!

Its time we get off from the textual learning to real time implementation, and show that we know we can code!!!

Format:

The problem statement will be uploaded on Paanchajanya website and displayed on the Paanchajanya notice board on the day of event. The participants will have to submit their code at the helpdesk on the next day morning.

Rules:

This is an individual event.
All the participants must be registered Paanchajanya delegates.
Coding should be done only using C/C++ language. Turbo C/C++ or Dev C++ compiler can be used.
The participants are requested to submit:

     A Hardcopy which contains the code, algorithm & sample I/O.
     A Softcopy (only in CD) which contains Code.
     Name & PCH No. of participants should be clearly mentioned on the CD.

The following criteria will be emphasized:

Requisite documentation of code.
Proper Indentation.
Code Optimality.

The decision of the Judges/Panel would be final and no communication will be entertained in this respect.

After huge success last year, Online Treasure Hunt is back in PAANCHAJANYA 2011 with a bang…

This time, the number of levels have been increased while the difficulty level is reduced.

Rules:

The event will begin on Day 1 at 6pm and continue till 12pm of Day 2.
This is an individual event. All the participants with a valid PCH Number can participate in this event.
This is a completely online event. Participants can play the event from anywhere.
Participants have to use their own computer.
It is an online treasure hunt that has an undisclosed number of levels of varying difficulty, some more, some less challenging, with a beginner friendly learning curve.
The clues may be present in images, page title, URL, source code or anywhere on the website.
Participants are free to use google or any other site for solving the clues.
Correct answer will lead you to the next level and wrong answer will load the same level again.
The participant completing all the levels first or the participant completing maximum levels by 12pm of Day 2 will be declared winner.
In case of a tie, the participant who has cracked the level first will be declared as the winner.
If a large number of participants are stuck at a particular level, official clues will be given by the organisers.

The answer may contain words, numbers or symbols.
The answers are not case sensitive. The website will accept answers with or without CAPS.

If NO…….!! Here’s your chance to design an arcade game of your own ……

Paanchajanya’11 comes up with a new and exciting event, an event which puts your innovation and creativity into reality.

AFICIONADOS tests your skill and talent to entertain and impress the audience in technical style.

Rules:

This is a team event, the team can have maximum of 4 persons and all the 4 persons must be registered for Paanchajanya’11.(Participants need not to be from same college)
Hardware games- maximum area provided will be 10 x 10 feet. 220v Power supply will be provided if necessary.
Software games or applications- could be either on JAVA, ANDROID, FLASH, UNITY platforms and team must bring their own laptop, Smartphone, tablet, etc to demonstrate the game. Other platforms are also welcome. If you want to work on a different platform please contact the co-ordinators before doing so.
Games or applications MUST be ORIGINAL.
Rules and the story line of the game must be well defined and a hard copy consisting of Game idea, PCH number, Platform (for software games) & Contact details must be submitted on or before 24^th September.
Criteria for judging the game will be based on originality, game play, build quality, cost (for hardware) and the marketing skills of the team.
Game must have a technical or mathematical aspect to it, i.e. it must not be totally based on luck.
Last date for registration for this event is 21^st September.
Judges decision will be final and binding.

What is this event about?
Aficionados is a new event at Paanchajanya’11 which tests the creativity and application of technical aspects into building a fun, new and innovative game.

A New game?
Yes, it has to be an original game with its own set of rules. The rules of the game must be clearly defined (You shouldn’t make up rules on the go).

I have to make up a game up all by myself?
Not necessarily, you can make up a team of upto 4 members to make the game. They need not be from the same college.

What kind of game are we supposed to make?
You can make a game that is software based i.e, running on your laptop, smartphone, tablet etc OR you can make it on open source hardware, which is widely available OR any type of game which accomodate the following constraints.

What are the constraints?

The game must be set up and playable within an area of 10X10 feet.
The gameplay must not be totally based on luck (We are not looking for games like snake and ladder).

Are there any constraints on the type of material used?
No.

Are there any constraints on creativity?
No.

On what platform should I code my app?
Java, Android, Unity and Flash based platforms are welcome. If you want to work on a different platform please contact the co-ordinators before doing so.

I’m not acquainted with programming and coding stuff. Can I participate?
Yes. You could make an arcade game, a board game, a puzzle game or even a game involving robots, electronics, or just sheer wit (Like we said there is no constraint on your creativity).

What all will you provide us with?
We will provide you with a platform to showcase your talents. Also, a 220v AC power supply and a floor area of 10 x 10 feet. Contact the co-ordinators well in advance if you need anything else.

What will my game be judged on?
Your game will be judged on its gameplay (how much fun and engrossing it is), its originality (how innovative it is) and its build quality (how well polished the end game is). In addition to your game, you will be also judged on how well you market your game. Your game will be awarded points by the judges and also by your peers.

My peers? What do you mean?
Apart from the judges, your game will also be played by hundreds of audience members attending the event and awarded points based on their feedback.

Any tips to increase my chances at winning?
The game you make should neither be too complex nor should it be too simple. The game should be such that people enjoy playing it. You could display a poster or include a short tutorial in your game to help understand the rules of the game. You could also add an interesting storyline to enhance the appeal of your game.

Yantrayuddha (Robo War):

Are you an engineer who dares to tough it out in the mayhem of the highest degree?
Equipped with the fiercest weaponry and toughest armour, gears will grind and sparks will fly as the robots battle it out in a bid to be the best. And only a few will come out alive!

Bot Specifications

The dimensions of the bot should not exceed 40cm x 40cm x 40cm.
The potential difference between any two points should not exceed 24V.
Total current drawn by the robots should not exceed 10A.
The total weight of bot should not exceed 7 kg on the arena.
The bot can be wired or wireless. Wireless bots should have at least two modes of frequency to avoid frequency interference.
Participants are expected to keep the length of the wires from remote to bot at least 5 meters.
Weapons are allowed! (except projectiles and flame throwers)
230V AC Power supply will be provided. The participating teams should bring adaptors/eliminators of the required voltage rating.

Arena

Event Rules

There will be weapons on the arena. And the arena will be a raised platform.
The controlling wires should be bound into a single strip and long enough, it should not entangle with the opponent’s wires. The length of the wire from the bot to the controlling unit (switch board) should be more than 5m. The wire should always remain slack throughout the competition.
The bot will be checked for its specifications before it enters into the tournament and any failure to comply with event rules (specifically weight and dimension of the bot) will lead to disqualification. The bot can have expanding arms, but at NO point during the match, should the dimensions exceed said limits of 40cm x 40cm x 40cm.
Participants are allowed to use any sort of weapons in the bot. The participants should make sure that weapons used should be safe for the spectators and the arena. The organizers have the right to disqualify the team with unsafe weapons.
Participants are not allowed to cut/damage the controlling wires of the other bots. Any team doing so will be disqualified.
Participants are expected 2 keep the length of the wires from remote to bot at least 5 meters.
The time limit for Round-1 will be 3 minutes.
The time limit for Round-2 will be declared on the spot.
There is no time limit for Round-3. The match will go on till, only 1 bot is left in the arena.
The details regarding the arena dimensions will be put up on the site shortly.

General Rules

The registration fee for the event is Rs. 100/team (4 members max). The maximum number of members allowed per team is 4 (four).
Every member of the team should have a valid PCH number/ should have registered for the fest.
No extra time will be provided to the team for repair of the bot once the competition starts. However, teams may repair their bots in between the rounds.
The bot must be ready by the time the team is called for the event.
A Picture of the Bot and specifications (Weight, dimensions and the weapons used should be mailed to the event managers by 21^stSeptember 2011 along with your contact details. The mail ID is robo@paanchajanya.com . This picture will not be disclosed to any of the other participants up until the time of the actual event. You may send the picture even if the bot is not completed by 21^st September.
The organizers have the right to change the rules as and when required. Change in rules, if any, will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.
The event manager’s decision regarding scoring and judgment will be final.
All the participating teams are requested to be at the venue on time. The schedule will be put up on the site.
If a team is not ready when their challenge round is called by the judge, the team forfeits and the opposing team is declared the winner by default
Any kind of unfair play during the match will lead to immediate disqualification.
