A GENERAL IDEA ABOUT PAANCHAJANYA
Paanchajanya is our annual event at IEEE-GIT. It was conceived with the intention of bettering our techno-managerial skills. Over the years, by dramatically broadening its dimensions, it has emerged as a unique event in North Karnataka which is very eagerly awaited.
Why the name Paanchajanya?
According to mythology, Paanchajanya is the name of the conch of Lord Krishna which was blown to signal the beginning of the Mahabharata War.
At IEEE-GIT, we decided to have an event that may well be termed as a tech-fest which would be a battle of technical skills, where young minds would try to prove their supremacy and “gyaan” in various technical fields. Hence we decided to name the event as Paanchajanya. Since then we have worked to establish Paanchajanya as a well known and eagerly awaited event in Karnataka.
Paanchajanya 2011:
Paanchajanya 2011 is the sixth edition of Paanchajanya. There are 12 main events, each representing an alphabet of the word Paanchajanya.
Paanchajanya till now –
Paanchajanya ‘06 – The first edition of Paanchajanya had the tag line – “Battle for the best”. The explanation for using this tag line is given right above in “Why the name Paanchajanya?”. No logo was used to depict the event.
Paanchajanya ‘07 – The second edition of Paanchajanya continued with the same tag line – “Battle for the best”. The event again had no logo.
Paanchajanya ‘08 – The third edition of Paanchajanya brought about various changes in the way the event was conducted. It was extended into a three day event. Along with this, many new technical and non technical events were introduced to the GIT campus. Even the tag line was also changed into –“Exhilarating the Engineering Spirit”. Again we felt no need for a logo.
Paanchajanya ’09 - The fourth edition has the tag line – “Unleashing Prodigies”. It was again a three day event with workshops on Blog Designing and building Linux Distro preceding it.
Paanchajanya ’10- The fifth edition of Paanchajanya had the tagline “A Coalescence of Prowess”. The event received a huge response with 400+ papers and 1500+ registrations.
